King Charles III invited to dinner at Windsor Castle – including an overnight stay. The guests were handpicked.
Dine with the king and spend the night in the castle? This honor has been bestowed on England national football coach Gareth Southgate and a number of other prominent guests. King Charles III gave the first “Dine and Sleep” dinner of his reign on Tuesday, the British news agency PA reported.
With a dinner of this kind, at which the selected guests are also invited to stay overnight at Windsor Castle, the 74-year-old is continuing a tradition of his mother Queen Elizabeth II, who died last year. She had also been invited to Windsor Castle around Easter for years.
In addition to Southgate and his wife Alison, the invited guests included opposition leader Keir Starmer, author Alexander McCall Smith and actress Ayesha Dharker.
