Hugh Jackman revealed that he had to undergo a new biopsy after suffering from skin cancer

Australian actor Hugh Jackman underwent more skin cancer screening tests after her last medical check-up.

With a bandage on his nose, the Wolverine interpreter turned to his social networks to sensitize his followers about the importance of routine check-ups and attend to sun protection advice. Jackman, 54, awaits test results in the next few days.

In 2013, he had his first skin cancer removed. Since then, the actor has undergone at least six procedures.

In his social networks, Jackman told how he discovered the diagnosis. It was his doctor who noticed “little things that may or may not be basal cell carcinomas.”

Basal cell carcinoma is a type of non-melanoma skin cancer, meaning it is much less likely to spread to other parts of the body. This type of cancer is caused by overexposure to the sun and tanning beds.

Jackman assured his followers that basal cell carcinomas are the “least dangerous” in the world of skin cancer. Still, he hopes the scare will serve to remind people of the importance of adhering to recommended sun care.

“Please use sunscreen, it’s not worth it no matter how much you want to be tanned. Trust me”said.

Skin cancer: a common diagnosis in Australia

Australia is considered the “skin cancer capital of the world”, with more than 11,500 people diagnosed with melanoma and some 434,000 treated for other types of skin cancer each year.

“Being Australian it’s very common. I never used sunscreen growing up so I was an ideal candidate,” said the Sydney-born actor.

In 2015, Jackman told People magazine that his diagnosis had surprised him despite his knowledge of the subject. “It’s always a bit of a shock to hear the word ‘cancer'”.

Jackman is best known for his role as Wolverine in the world of Marvel, in addition to his role in Van Helsing (2004), the drama “The Great Trick” (2006) and the musical “The Greatest Showman” (2017), among other hits.
