Bright colors, many stars: Hollywood star Margot Robbie (32) struts through the new trailer of the feature film in the role of the world-famous Barbie doll on pink heels “Barbie”. At her side is Ryan Gosling (42) with platinum blonde hair and bright yellow roller skates “ken” in action. Other roles in the plastic world of dolls include Will Ferrell, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon and Dua Lipa.
Theatrical release in July
A good three months before the planned theatrical release (mid-July), the Warner Bros. studio put the trailer online. The story suggests that Ken and Barbie move from their perfect pink Barbieland to the “real world” be transferred.
A toy company and Warner Bros. had the project with Australian Robbie (“Babylon”, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”) announced in 2019. The Barbie doll has previously appeared in animated films, but not in a feature-length film with real actors. Directed by Greta Gerwig (39, “Little Women”, “Lady Bird”), who together with her husband Noah Baumbach (“Marriage Story”) also wrote the screenplay.
