More than 600 fishermen will compete tomorrow for a prize of $1,500,000 pesos for the largest piece in the first fishing contest “Holy Week in the Fisherman’s Paradise”, which will be held in the town of Bahía San Blas, south of the Buenos Aires province in the Carmen de Patagones district.
For its part, the second place will take $800,000 pesos, the third place will be $450,000, explained from the SUM Eva Perón organizers of this activity.
The variety of fish within the bay is very rich in species and in quantity, you can find specimens of whiting, corvina, roosterfish, dogfish, bacotas, species of sharks, stickfish, catfish, catfish, bank anchovies.
In addition to pomfret, grouper, sea bream, cucho, speckled ray and silverside.
Daniel Urquilux, one of the organizers, told Télam that, “since last year we have been working on organizing the event, so we are excited that it will be a nice day of fishing for all the families who come to visit San Blas ”.
“We already have the field assigned, there are approximately 5 kilometers of coastline that we embrace, all the controls will be there, a gazebo where the scales will be located and verify the final weight of the largest piece,” he explained.
Registration to participate in the contest is $12,000 “and those who purchase it in advance participate in a draw for $50,000,” said Urquilux.

The town of Bahía San Blas is located on the El Jabalí island to the south of the province of Buenos Aires in the Carmen de Patagones district, distant 918 km from the Federal Capital.
It was declared a “Natural Reserve of Multiple Uses” in 2001, in the area that extends from the mouth of the Old Colorado River, to the north, to the Segunda Barranca lighthouse; Within that strip, hunting is prohibited and only sport fishing and water sports can be practiced.
