I followed the birthday celebration of Charly García live at the CCK

The academic group, through a delicate arranging work, was joining different pieces of García, showing the melodic richness of the creations of the maximum Argentine rockstar, malleable and willing to assume different formats, registers and interpretations, which played as reformulations that they never forgot the original from which they came.

An attentive audience, full, expectant, received the music that came from the stage with joy and this strange reunion of music, people and live performances in the post-pandemic went through without excesses, in a concert full of emotional sensations due to the tribute it pays and the dimension of the creator he celebrates.

The culminating moment of this first block, where Charly’s music was bathed by delicate academic lines, was the existential desert that García drew in “Going from the bed to the living room”, which started the first clapping following the music and injected adrenaline into a concert very soft and airy density.

The arrangers Julián Caeiro and Pablo Salzman made an almost chronological journey through García’s repertoire, starting a first block of chained songs where “Confesiones de Invierno” was followed by “When I start to be alone”, “Alto en la Torre” and “institutions”.

Then it was the turn of “Cinema Verité”, “Desarma y Sangra / 20 green suits” and “Alicia en el País”, in a block that brought textures and climates into play, with the perhaps most dramatic configuration of García’s musical invention .

Orchestrated fragments of “Superhéroes”, “Ojos de Videotape” and the ending of “Going from the bed to the living room”, with an electric violin in front, gave the audience the optimal climax to begin to imagine a peaceful and calm descent, guided by the soft winds of some soul glider with “Adela en el carousel” and “Tema de amor”.

Although he was never alien to strings or orchestras, the chamber work that opened the CCK megaconcert put into play the logic of reinventions and devices to approach music that is always open and with the capacity to be constantly rethought and from different angles.

The mega-concert continues with a second musical block that starts at 4:00 p.m. where, with a change of musicians, audience and sounds, variations on songs by Charly performed from tango, folklore and jazz will be heard.

Hernán Jacinto, Andrés Beeuwsaert, Santiago Vázquez, Diego Schissi, Nico Sorín, Mariano Otero, Ernesto Jodos and Sergio Verdinelli, in this case will be some of the interpreters who will delve into different possible facets of the creator of Sui Generis.

From 18, meanwhile, a stable band made up of Fabián “Zorrito” Quintiero on keyboards, Fernando Samalea on drums, María Eva Albistur on bass and Fernando Kabusacki on guitars, will tour songs from all times with the participation of Erica Di Salvo, Ulises Di Salvo, Rosario Ortega, Juan Ingaramo, Alina Gandini, María Rosa Yorio, Guido Spina, Raúl Porchetto, Andy Chango, Alejandro Medina and Lola Medina among others.
