The silence was broken by the director wounded by the shooting of Alec Baldwin on the set

“I am devastated by the loss of my friend and colleague, Halyna. She was kind, vibrant, incredibly talented, fought for every inch and always strived to be better,” the director said in a statement.

Souza did not specify details of the accident or his injuries, but said he was “moved and grateful for the great affection” received from “the film community, the people of Santa Fe and the hundreds of strangers who have approached.”

While Matt Hutchins, the fatal victim’s husband, wrote on his Twitter account: “Halyna inspired us all with her passion and vision, and her legacy is too significant to sum up in words. Our loss is enormous.”

According to an affidavit filed by a sheriff’s office detective, Baldwin received what he believed was a safe backup pistol Thursday, but it contained live bullets when it was fired.

The person who was in charge of handling and preparing the weapons on the set was identified by the US media as a 24-year-old woman.

As reported by the US media, the gunsmith had stated in an interview earlier this year for a podcast that her father’s work was ignited and Rust was her first film.
