Prince William attends Aston Villa game with son Prince George

Prince William is not only President of the English Football Association, but also an ardent supporter of the Aston Villa club. Together with his son George, he watched a game in the stadium on Saturday.

Royal visit to Villa Park football stadium in Birmingham: Prince William and his nine-year-old son Prince George took a seat in the stands on Saturday (April 8) and cheered on Aston Villa in the game against Nottingham Forest. Christian Purslow, CEO of the Premier League club, sat next to the royal guests, who were clearly watching the game with excitement. And they apparently brought luck to the team: Aston Villa.

Prince William had already shown his support for the Birmingham-based football club in mid-March. The Royal visited the club’s training facilities in Bodymoor Heath to meet with various members of the England football team.

Prince William has been a fan of Aston Villa since school

According to the club’s website, Princess Kate’s husband met with CEO Christian Purslow, head coach Unai Emery, his coaching staff and the men’s first team. He also spoke to Carla Ward, manager of Aston Villa in the FA Women’s Super League, and watched the young talents from the club’s academy train.

Prince William is President of the English Football Association FA and has been a fan of the club since he was young. The 40-year-old explained the reason for his supporters in a 2015 interview with the BBC: While his schoolmates would have been fans of Manchester United or Chelsea, he would have longed for a team “that is more in the middle of the table and me more convey a rollercoaster ride of emotions”.
