Sven Walser: “News from Büttenwarder” actor died at the age of 59

With his role as stable hand Kuno in “News from Büttenwarder” he had cult status on NDR. Now Sven Walser died at the age of 59.

Mourning for the longtime NDR actor Sven Walser: The 59-year-old died after a serious illness on April 4, 2023 in Berlin. The broadcaster announced this in a press release on Tuesday. Walser became famous for his role as the stable boy Kuno in the series “News from Büttenwarder”. He has been part of the ensemble since the first episode in 1997, which is why he had cult status with his fans.

NDR program director Frank Beckmann: “With Sven Walser, NDR loses a special actor. For 24 years he played his way into the hearts of the fans with the character of the lovable and funny groom Kuno. Our sympathy goes especially to his family.”

Sven Walser was also seen in the “Tatort” and in the “Großstadtrevier” and played regularly in the theatre. In the course of his career he also had engagements at the Munich Kammerspiele and the Burgtheater in Vienna. In recent years he has often appeared on stage at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in Hamburg.

Walser leaves behind his wife and three children together. On the occasion of his death on April 15, the NDR shows three more episodes of the series “News from Büttenwarder”.
