Meredith Grey, the central character of the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy”who has played the actress for 19 seasons ellen pompeosays goodbye to the series with the episode that can be seen for the first time in the region tonight at 10 p.m. Sony Channel.

Although it was confirmed that she will have some sporadic special appearances in the future, this will be the end of the road for the main protagonist and narrator of the fiction that takes place in the imaginary Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital in Seattle, in the United States.

As reported through a statement, although the character that gives the series its title will not continue, Pompeo will continue to be closely linked to the proposal as a producer.

Grey’s departure, however, is not surprising. By the end of the previous season, the character’s idea of seeking new horizons had remained latent.

This will take place in “I’ll Follow the Sun”, as the seventh episode of season 19 is called. According to the synopsis provided to the press, the Chief of Surgery at Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital leaves her position because she accepts a job offer in Boston to be part of an important firm that conducts research and treatments on Alzheimer’s. The episode will mark his last day at the hospital, with emotional farewells from the different members of the medical team.

Meredith’s departure from fiction will not be the only element that revolutionizes its plot, as this season brings the return of two emblematic characters such as Addison Montgomery, the doctor played by Kate Walsh who already had her spin-off (“Private Practice”, 2007-2013) and was in some episodes of season 18; and surgeon Jackson Avery played by Jesse Williams, who returns as a special guest for one episode.

In addition, five new residents joined the medical center: Simone Griffin (Alexis Floyd), Lucas Adams (Niko Terbó), Mika Yasuda (Midori Francis), Jules Millin (Adelaide Kane) and Daniel “Blue” Kwan (Harry Shum Jr.).

Originally released in March 2005, the drama will seek to support its loyal legion of followers with an already characteristic formula that focuses on both the work and personal aspects of its protagonists.
