The first edition of FIC.UBAhe international Film Festival organized by the Buenos Aires’ University Next to the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism (FADU) and the Image and Sound Careerwill be held between July 25 and 30.

The festival, which is part of different actions of the UBA in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the recovery of democracy, will screen more than fifty films divided between the international feature film competition, the Ibero-American short film competition, the UBA short film competition and various retrospectives and tributes.

In addition, among the prominent guests of this first edition will be none other than the Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia, who will give an open class for students and will present some of his films at the retrospective organized by the festival. The award-winning Ukrainian documentary filmmaker will also be present Sergey Loznitsawhich will present four feature films of his renowned work, among them the premiere in Argentina of “The Natural History of Destruction” (2022).
“For the entire university community, it is a great pride to inaugurate this first FIC.UBA in the year in which we celebrate in our country the 40 uninterrupted years of democracy,” said the rector of the UBA, through a press release. Ricardo Gelpi.
Among the highlights of the festival, the director Manuel Antin will be honored for his career and his fundamental contribution to definitively end censorship in Argentine cinema, and tribute will also be paid to the civil and cultural association “Women and Cinema”for her work for gender parity.
FIC.UBA’s general director is the Secretary of Design Policies and Technological Innovation of the UBA, Ricardo Alfonsín, and the artistic direction of the director of the Image and Sound Design career, Marcelo Altmark.
All the functions of the festival will be with free admission and will have as its main venue the FADU (Pavilion 3 of Ciudad Universitaria), in addition to the Cosmos UBA Cinema, Rooms 1 and 2 of the San Martín Cultural Center and the Gaumont del Incaa Cinema.
