It was recently said that King Charles wished both sons to attend his coronation and that wish will be granted on May 6th. As Buckingham Palace officially announced on Wednesday, Prince Harry will travel to his homeland from Montecito in California. In the announcement, the palace even wrote that it was “delighted” to announce Harry’s appearance, as quoted by Sussex biographer Omid Scobie on Twitter.
The relationship between the institution, the royal family and the ducal couple of Sussex has been strained for months. Although Charles mentioned his youngest son and his wife in his very first address as a monarch, the Netflix documentary was released in December 2022 and Harry’s autobiography “Spare” in early January 2023. In it, Harry and Meghan shared their perspective on the royal family and the Windsor family. Much of it was critical – and met with little sympathy from Royal fans and the British press.
The king and his family members have never commented specifically on the publications. But it has been speculated that the prince, his wife and two children may not be able to attend his father’s biggest day because of this. So now the decision Charles should make. It was said, according to insiders, that the king wanted his California-based son by his side on Coronation Day. It is the Windsors’ first public meeting with Harry since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral last fall.

Harry will be there, Meghan and her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will remain in the United States. Scobie went on to tweet that Archie’s fourth birthday, which also falls on May 6, “played a role in the couple’s decision.” It will be a “fairly short trip” for the 38-year-old. Harry will only attend the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Other celebrations include a performance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, a concert a day later and other smaller events around the country.
