The 111th edition of the National Hall of Visual Arts (SNAV) that promotes the contemporary artistic scene and that had its great exhibition unfolded in the spaces of the Borges Cultural Center and the Kirchner Cultural Center last year, maintains last year’s regulations with their corresponding quotas and prizes and distributes 54 prizes in total: 46 prizes for the salon and 8 for artistic career.

The three best works of the set of categories and 43 prizes in total for artistic categories will be awarded.

What is the award scale?

  • Presidency of the Nation Award for the first best work: $1,500,000
  • Prize for the second best work: $1,000,000
  • Prize for the third best work: $700,000
  • Prizes for the first best works of each category: $350.00
  • Prizes for the second best works in each category: $240,000
  • Prizes for the third best works in each category: $180.00

The artistic categories are made up of fire arts, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphics, installations and alternative media, painting, textiles and non-disciplinary space.

From these categories will emerge the three best works of the set that will become part of the art collection of the Palais de Glace (National Palace of Arts) and the best non-acquisition works of each artistic discipline.

A first prize will be awarded to the best work in each category and according to the number of entries, the number for second and third prizes will be weighted.

As for the National Award for Artistic Career, which is intended for “native or naturalized Argentine artists, over 60 years of age who have made decisive contributions to the art of this country”, it grants a lifetime pension consisting of five minimum retirements.

As consideration, the selected ones will donate to the Ministry of Culture up to five relevant works of their production, being chosen by the jury, of seven members, one that will become part of the heritage of the National Museum of Fine Arts.

On the other hand, the new jury scheme implemented last year is maintained, which includes a Regional Jury for each of the 7 regions for the pre-selection of works, some of whose names are by vote of the artists at the time of registration.

In this instance, the country is divided into seven regions, and each region is represented by three members from the regional list of applicants.

The seven regions are NEA (Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Misiones, Santa Fe, Chaco and Formosa), NOA (Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Santiago del Estero, Catamarca and La Rioja), Centro (Córdoba), Cuyo (San Luis, San Juan and Mendoza), Patagonia (La Pampa, Neuquén, Río Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz and Tierra del Fuego), Province of Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.

Then there is the Federal Disciplinary Award Jury that awards by category, and finally the Transdisciplinary Selection and Award Jury with five people that will select the works and award the best six in the set of categories.
