Monarchy: Norwegian royal couple does not come to the coronation

King Charles III has to do without the visit of the Norwegian royal couple at his coronation in May. The heir to the throne has announced himself and his wife for this.

Another basket from Scandinavia for the king: After the Danish monarch, the Norwegian royal couple has now apparently also taken part in the coronation of King Charles III. canceled in London on May 6th. According to the official program on the Norwegian court’s website, only Crown Prince Haakon (49) and his wife, Crown Princess Mette-Marit (49), are traveling to the ceremony in the British capital. The royal family did not give a reason for this when asked by the dpa.

Norway’s King Harald V. (86) has been struggling with illnesses for years. He was last treated for an infection in the hospital shortly before Christmas 2022. The Danish Queen Margrethe II (82) canceled her distant relative Charles on Tuesday for health reasons: she is still in rehabilitation after a back operation in February.
