In 2021, Lady Gaga sang at Joe Biden’s inauguration. Now she is co-chair of his Arts and Humanities Committee.
Joe Biden (80) announced last year that he would revive the Arts and Humanities Committee that his predecessor Donald Trump (76) had dissolved. The US President has now announced which top stars are to direct this.
Film director Bruce Cohen (61) and singer Lady Gaga (37) are to act as co-chairs. Other prominent members include musician Jon Batiste (36), “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes (53) and actors George Clooney (61), Jennifer Garner (50), Kerry Washington (46) and Katie McGrath (39) .
Committee was established under Reagan
The committee was first established in 1982 during the tenure of Ronald Reagan (1911-2004). The task of the members is, among other things, to advise the US President on cultural-political questions and problems.
Biden pledged at the time that his administration would “support the cultural vitality of the United States through the promotion of the arts, humanities, and museum and library services.”
