In an interview, cult director Quentin Tarantino explained why bare skin is almost never seen in his films.
The craziest things happen in Quentin Tarantino’s films – the only thing you won’t find are sex scenes. In one he explained why this is so.
“Sex is not my idea of cinema”
“Sex is not my idea of cinema,” he explained. In addition, his aversion to sex scenes also has very pragmatic reasons. “In real life, doing sex scenes is just torture for everyone involved. Everyone’s very tense.”
If this was already problematic in earlier times, the matter has become significantly more problematic today. Still: “If a sex scene had ever been essential to a story, I would have shot it. But so far it hasn’t been necessary.”
Foot fetishist Tarantino
Scenes in which he can openly live out his legendary foot fetish and bring it to the screen seem to be much more essential for the director. In almost every one of his films there is at least one close-up of a foot that is often licked extensively.
Tarantino even put on his tongue himself, as in the film From Dusk Till Dawn, for which he wrote the screenplay. There you can admire him devotedly sucking on the toes of his fellow actress Salma Hayek (56).
When asked about his passion, he replied: “I don’t take it all that seriously. Many good directors’ films are full of feet. That’s just good directorial work.”
