The document that includes several nationalizations, mentions among them “Natalia Marisa Oreiro Iglesias, born on May 19, 1977 in Uruguay, together with her son, Merlin Atahualpa Mollo Oreiro, born on January 26 in Argentina.”

Everything arose after Oreiro’s participation in a Russian television program in which the host described her as “the most Russian of the foreigners.”

Attentive to that definition, she accepted it. “It would be an honor for me,” he said, jokingly adding, “Putin should have given me citizenship.”

Weeks later, he stated in statements to RIA Novosti that he was not going to live in Russia, but was seeking Russian citizenship as an “honor from a symbolic point of view” and a “way of thanking them [a los rusos] for all the love “they give him.

The request was made in 2020 and, for this, the singer presented her data and her son’s affiliations with the Argentine musician Ricardo Mollo. If the process was successful, he promised, he would return to Russia when the Covid-19 pandemic ends.

Oreiro’s bond with Russia is such that when the coronavirus vaccination campaign began in Argentina, she assured that if she could choose a vaccine, she would opt for the Sputnik V: “If you have to give the vaccine, I give myself the Russian, without hesitation,” he said.

Natalia Oreiro is practically venerated in that country. Since her appearance as the protagonist of “Muñeca brava”, the telenovela broadcast in the 1990s, her figure has grown in popularity and draws crowds every time she is presented in that country.
