Corona vaccination in O: Shorter intervals and more flexible appointment booking

The appointment itself can be booked not only for the first vaccination, but also for the follow-up vaccination, according to a broadcast by LH deputy and health officer Christine Haberlander (VP) on Friday.

So far, the follow-up appointment had been made directly with the first vaccination, which should continue to be possible if the vaccinated person so wishes. But now the second appointment can also be booked on ooe-impft.at once the first vaccination has been given. Existing second dates remain in effect. However, if you are unable to attend for important reasons – for example illness – you can change your booking yourself in the future. This is possible after the existing appointment has been canceled, taking into account the recommended vaccination interval. However, the crisis team appeals to everyone to keep existing appointments as agreed as possible.

Haberlander wants to further increase the vaccination rate with the more flexible booking option. In the week that was drawing to a close, low-threshold offers in the form of pop-up vaccination routes had also been launched and were very well received.

The state also informed about the following adjustments due to new requirements of the National Vaccination Board:

  1. Vaccination recommendation for those who have recovered: After a confirmed Covid infection (PCR test), the vaccination should take place four weeks after recovery or virus detection.
  2. Cross vaccinations: For complete vaccination protection, the vaccination series should be ended with the vaccine with which it was started. The National Vaccination Board therefore generally does not recommend cross-vaccination. A vaccination change should only be offered if severe side effects occur after the first vaccination or if the person to be vaccinated has an urgent request.
  3. Shortening the vaccination intervals: Due to the spread of the delta variant, the National Vaccination Board recommends shortening the time intervals between the partial vaccinations for vaccines with two partial vaccinations. The planned intervals for the various vaccines:

    Biontech/Pfizer: three weeks
    Modern: four weeks
    Astrazeneca: four to eight weeks

A certain time window can be used in each case. The new intervals in Upper Austria will be used for all new registrations from next week. Appointments for second vaccinations that have already been agreed remain in place.
