George R. R. Martincreator of the literary saga, shared new details about the prequel series of game of Thrones recently announced, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
The author explained that the series has already been commissioned for a first season, which will include the three works that make up the book of the same name. However, Martin also teased other projects before confirming that he is still writing the sixth book of “A Song of Ice & Fire”“Winds of Winter”.
Writing on his official website, Martin said of the latest prequel series: “Our premiere season will be an adaptation of the first of three published novels, ‘The Hovering Knight,’ the story of how Dunk & Egg first met. once during a tournament at Ashford Meadow”.
“The pilot script is already written and I think it’s fantastic. It was written by Ira Parker, who is no stranger to Westeros. He was part of Ryan Condal’s writing team for the first season of House of The Dragon and wrote the fourth episode of the first season of Hot D, ‘King of the Narrow Sea’”.
Expanding on the few details he was prepared to blurt out, Martin said there was no release date scheduled at this time, nor was there a production schedule. “There is still no set date for the series premiere, or even for the show to start filming…but writing is underway”said.
Martin added that he hoped A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms became a “faithful adaptation of those tales for the screen”. Martin concluded by saying that if the show becomes a success, he plans to make sure that the tales of the loyal sword and the mysterious knight also adapt to the screen.
The three works are collected together in the anthology A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms which tells the story of the unlikely friends Dunk and Egg, and are the official stories of the prequel to the saga “A Song of Ice & Fire” of Martin, who became game of Thrones of HBO.
A synopsis released for the television adaptation reads: “A century before the events of Game Of Thrones, two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros…a naive but brave young knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.
“Set in a time when the Targaryen bloodline still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has yet to pass from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous feats await these unlikely and incomparable friends.”
