Ryan Reynolds gave new details about Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in Deadpool 3

The next mercenary movie will be the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Hugh Jackman promised fans that his return as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 won’t mess up the previous timeline of X Men. In other words, Jackman’s Wolverine character arc from X Men from 2000 to Logan of 2017 is safe from what happens in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Neither Reynolds nor Jackman revealed much information about the new Wolverine, but Reynolds recently told ET Canada which differs greatly from Jackson’s previous Wolverine.

“We’ve wanted this for decades…it’s weirdly the perfect time,” Reynolds said of teaming up with Jackman. “I never stopped [intentar que volviera como Wolverine]. I’ve been pestering him like a mosquito for the past few years. I believe in time as much as hard work and luck and all those intersections that are supposed to meet. Time is the big one. I think I was ready. I think he was excited.”

Added Reynolds, “And what we presented to him was enough of a divergence from the character he knows and the character he left behind that it gives him something completely new to play and something he’s really excited to do.”

Jackman previously told SiriusXM that his return as Wolverine depended on not messing with the events of Loganwhich featured the death of the Wolverine that Jackman had played since X Men in 2000. Both fans and Jackman himself have long considered that Logan is the perfect conclusion to Wolverine.

“It’s all because of this device that they have in the Marvel world to move through timelines,” Jackman said, almost confirming that the multiverse plays a factor in his return. “Now we can go back because, you know, it’s science. So, I don’t have to fuck with the ‘Logan’ timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably for the fans as well.”

Deadpool 3 is preparing for a production start in May 2023. The film will be released in theaters on November 8, 2024 from Disney.
