Joey Heindle: He doesn’t get any money for his film role

Joey Heindle has landed a role in a thriller. In an interview, he explains how this great opportunity came about.

For Joey Heindle (28) things are going high. The singer and reality star has landed a role in an international thriller. The 28-year-old plays the little brother of a mafia killer in “Someone Dies Tonight”. Heindle is allowed to shoot alongside great actors like Costas Mandylor (56, “Saw III”) and Michael Madsen (64, “Kill Bill”). Julia Roberts’ brother Eric Roberts (65, “Suits”) is also there.

Heindle is entering completely new territory with this role – and he likes it, as he says. “It’s a challenge, but it’s a lot of fun.” The ex- “DSDS” candidate uses the role as an opportunity. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, he explains what fascinates him about acting and who is his role model. He also reveals why he doesn’t seem to mind that he doesn’t get a cent for his performance.

Congratulations on your role in film. How come?

Joey Heindle: It’s a long story. Pat Wind is the co-producer of “Someone Dies Tonight”. I’ve known him for six years. I used to take him to events and explain that he belongs to me. He has not forgotten that to this day. It so happened that he met the director, Vjekoslav Katusin, by chance. He got a role with him in his last film.

He was brought in as co-producer on “Someone Dies Tonight” and asked me if I would like to act in a film. I was brought on board straight away and got the role of the little brother of a mafia killer. It shouldn’t really matter at all. It might have been a minute in the movie. Somehow I was able to convince with the acting, so that the scriptwriter should enlarge my role. That’s a big thank you from the director.

How was it for you to shoot alongside Hollywood stars?

Heindle: When I saw Hollywood stars like Costa’s Mandylor playing, it was really crazy. He is my favorite. We moved around the houses in Baden-Baden and had a drink. He’s a really cool guy. You can really tell that the people are extremely normal. You can talk to them. There is no arrogance there.

How have you experienced shooting the film so far?

Heindle: It’s a challenge, but it’s a lot of fun. For example, I had to take stunt lessons from a stunt coordinator. Every fight that can be seen in the film is rehearsed over and over again. There are fights that are practiced for two or three weeks. Every grip has to be right, because you can really hurt someone if you hit them.

But I’ll say right from the start: I won’t get any money for this film. This is a huge opportunity for me. It’s such a give and take. I’ve used that for myself now. If you only ask for money for everything in life, you will get stuck. It’s a great role. Sure, if I had to play a corpse, I would have asked for something (laughs).

What would your dream role be?

Heindle: I think serious roles are very cool. I am extremely excited to play bad guys. In this film, I’m actually such a small, budding villain. My role is still trying to play its part and is still inexperienced in this area. The older brother thinks he still needs time. But who knows what will happen next for the next shoot. Maybe then there will be a little more action.

Do you have an acting role model?

Heindle: I have many role models in acting. One of the people I particularly like is Rami Malek. An absolutely great actor. He played Freddie Mercury great in “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Now he’s a villain in the new Bond movie. He’s really a huge role model for me. He started small and is now a really big star, just like Christoph Waltz. He created great things, especially with Quentin Tarantino.

Could you imagine doing the acting forever?

Heindle: Yeah, definitely. I really enjoy it. Above all, getting into roles that are the opposite of me. That’s where I can best contribute. I would do comedy too. Of course, I would want to act in a film by Matthias Schweighöfer or Til Schweiger. Most of them are comedies.

Something can happen anytime and anywhere. I see this as an opportunity for me. I also believe that in the next two, three, four years something will happen that many would not have expected. I have a good gut feeling about that.
