The directors of Avengers: Endgame have expressed interest in the new franchise from DC Studios from James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Joe and Anthony Russo are strongly linked to Marvel for their work in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and Captain America: Civil War. However, as long as the duo isn’t planning a return to the MCU anytime soon, they’d be willing to take a leap into the competition.
During a recent interview with the portal comic book about Citadelhis new series for Amazon Prime Videothe Russo Brothers indicated that they would like to direct a movie Batman for the new DC Universe.
Upon receiving a question about the eventual option of joining the franchise commanded by peter safran and James Gunn with DC Studios initially Anthony Russo He acknowledged that it is not usual for them to be asked about DC. Nevertheless, joe russo revealed which character they would like to bring to the big screen.
“Obviously, James is running (DC Studios), it would be a no-brainer,” Joe said. “We love him to death. We love the direction he’s going to take that world. You know he’s going to be inventive with it. And about our favorite DC characters? I mean man. There are many good ones. I always answer based on the comics he collected as a kid, and the two comics he collected the most were Spider-Man – actually, all three – they were Spider-Man, X-Men and Batman. But there have been many versions of Batman, so I feel like that’s an obvious answer.”
“But, you know, it’s hard not to respond to that,” added Anthony Russo. “That’s how you know we haven’t actually gotten literal about it and specific about it because, yeah, Batman was my favorite character my whole childhood. But obviously, he’s been well scouted.”
Currently Warner Bros is working on two films with Batman: the first is The Batman- Part II which will be directed by Matt Reeves as a sequel to The Batman (2022) and the second is The Brave and the Bold, within the new universe of DC adaptations. The Brave and the Bold doesn’t have a director yet, but the idea is for the movie to focus on Batman/Bruce Wayne and Robin/Damian Wayne.
