New branding: Deutsche Bahn sends rainbow ICE on its way

It should be more than just a colorful symbol: With its rainbow ICE, Deutsche Bahn wants to take a stand and promote cooperation.

As a sign of support for the LGBTQI + community, Deutsche Bahn has sent an ICE painted with a rainbow stripe on its journey. It is not about symbolism, “but about attitude, social interaction and concrete living conditions,” said railway boss Richard Lutz on Friday.

The abbreviation LGBTQI + stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans and other non-heterosexual people or people who do not identify with the traditional role model of men and women or other social norms relating to gender and sexuality.

With the new branding, the group also wants to honor the commitment of the “railbow” employee network, which advocates the interests of LGBTQI + employees. The freshly painted ICE drove from Berlin Central Station to Munich around noon. Christopher Street Day is celebrated there on Saturday. “The rainbow branding will remain in place for an indefinite period of time,” said Deutsche Bahn.
