STEYR. The Austria-wide carried out “reading days” inspired the students of the Münichholz middle school with teacher Martina Vogelhuber to a special project: In a “reading cinema” they wanted to bring the topic of reading closer to classmates and increase their reading motivation in the long term.
All the teachers read books to the children in different rooms of the school, most of which can be borrowed from the school library. And in a real cinema, of course, there is popcorn. From the very first minute, the 19 students from 1a were enthusiastic about the idea of going under the popcorn producers themselves. They designed logos for the bags and learned in class where corn is grown and harvested. When choosing the raw materials, the class teacher team Christian Rößner and Judith Rotter resorted to regional products. A popcorn machine was also purchased and a sales stand in the form of a cart was made. Class trips are to be financed with the proceeds from the sales of the popcorn.
