Arved Birnbaum: actor died at the age of 59

The actor Arved Birnbaum is dead. He died on Sunday, as it is now known.

The actor Arved Birnbaum (1962-2021) died on October 24th in Cologne University Hospital after a brief, serious illness. His wife Sabine confirmed this to the German Press Agency. He was 59 years old.

“More than just depicting figures”

Birnbaum, who began his acting career at the theater, has appeared in countless film and series productions since the late 1990s. Among other things, he played several times in “Tatort” over several years and also gave Hartung in “Lindenstrasse”. Birnbaum also played in “Die Camper”, “Ein Fall für Zwei” and “Polizeiruf 110”, as well as in the German mystery miniseries “Weinberg” from 2015.

Arved Birnbaum also directed the Schauspiel Zentrum Köln, which was founded in 1994. “Acting is always more than just depicting characters in a play or a film. In order to be able to play a role properly, it has to be understood and filled with life,” Birnbaum is quoted as saying. At the end of 2006, he and his wife Sabine founded the non-profit association Corpus eV and supported theater projects for people with disabilities, children and young people.
