The British Queen died last year at the age of 96. A tweet from Kensington Palace commemorates her birthday today.
The British royals commemorated Queen Elizabeth II, who died last year, on Friday. The longtime monarch would have turned 97 on April 21. A photo of Elizabeth II with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was published on the Kensington Palace Twitter account to mark the occasion. The picture was taken last summer at Balmoral Castle, it said.
The Queen died on September 8, 2022 while staying at Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands, where she usually spent the summer months. So the picture was probably taken a few weeks before her death. It shows, among other things, the children of Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (41), Prince George (9), Princess Charlotte (7) and Prince Louis (4) with the granddaughters and grandchildren of Queen’s daughter Princess Anne (72) and the children of Queen’s son Prince Edward (59) and his wife Duchess Sophie (58).
