Mother’s Day at the OÖN: voices with heart & humor

It will soon be that time again: the second Sunday in May traditionally belongs to mothers. The OÖ Nachrichten are celebrating Mother’s Day two days earlier, namely on Friday, May 12, with a column reading in the Promenaden Galerien in Linz. The event starts at 2:15 p.m. with coffee and Jindrak cakes. From 3 p.m., four columnists (see right) will read from their texts, which are regularly published in the OÖ Nachrichten.

Stories that life writes

“Children, families and life are a main topic of my columns,” says Barbara Rohrhofer, head of the life department. For more than 25 years, the Leonding native has been writing on Mondays in her format “Unmake-up” with humor about the small joys and sorrows, the whoops and flights of fancy and the normal madness of everyday family life.

Life and culinary editor Julia Evers always considers small mishaps with her children, whether they are good for a column. The mother of three explained that a lot of what sounds improbable is still true: “No columnist would dare to exaggerate like life does.”

Anneliese Edlinger observes her fellow human beings very closely for her column “Living with style” – and writes, among other things, about annoying habits, about the charm of handkerchiefs and also about how to find love on the internet – and lose it again.

Christine Haiden, the former boss of “Women’s World”, makes people sit up and take notice with critical tones: “I always write about topics that make me resonate.”

Jessie Ann sings, Jindrak bakes

But that’s not all: singer Jessie Ann de Angelo will combine well-known melodies with her South American temperament. “Songs that tell stories about women, have been composed by women or revolve around women” has prepared the musician from Mexico for the OÖN readers. The Jindrak confectionery takes care of your physical well-being and serves sweet petits fours, and of course coffee will not be missing on the OÖN “Mother’s Day”. Enjoy two hours just for yourself.
