Many stories have already been written in the Wilheringer Stadlerhof – at celebrations, anniversaries or weddings. But the farm itself also has a long history. The farm first appeared in a document 500 years ago. The Stadler family is celebrating this anniversary with a musical and theatrical reappraisal, a “Zeitroas”, which premiered on Saturday.
Joachim Rathke, who delivers a reliable highlight of every summer theater season with the “theaterSPECTACEL” in Wilhering, has taken on the subject with the historian Franz Haudum. The result is an entertaining, humorous pastiche with socio-critical elements, texts, Gstanzln and songs, carried by Rathke’s wit as narrator and monk. At his side is the farmer’s wife (authentic: Julia Frisch), who is an example of all the farmer’s wives of the past five centuries. The oddity is musically enhanced by Mike Kreuzer (piano) and Charlie Schmid (clarinet, saxophone, flute, vocals).
The transformation of the farmer’s wife from “24-hour help with cleaning duties,” who was not allowed to learn to read (“You go to hell for that, says the abbot”), to manager like the current “farmer’s wife” Margit Stadler is instructive – without Index finger. Dialogues between farmer Hias and farmer’s wife Anna bring the former zeitgeist to light, but are only funny in retrospect. Anna says: “Your social behavior is under every sow”, then the hias: “You know, well, that I can thresh you at any time – without punishment.” The “Zeitroas”, which is well worth seeing, is garnished with what was once a typical farmer’s meal.
