Scare at Disney: a 13-meter dragon caught fire in the middle of the show

An animatronic dragon caught fire in the park disneyland of California on Saturday night, officials from California Disney.

“During the final screening of ‘Fantasmic’ at Disneyland Park on Saturday night, the dragon caught fire,” Disney officials said in an official statement.

In a written communication, Disneyland officials reported that both the cast and show attendees were evacuated from the famous Tom Sawyer Island to protect them from smoke and wind. Nearby attractions were also cleared to limit the impact on visitors.

According to the Anaheim Fire Department, which responded to the scene, no one was injured during the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and a preliminary estimate of the damage has not been made public.

“Fantasmic” is a long-running nighttime show by Disney at the company’s parks in Florida and California. The show features “special effects, state-of-the-art projections and magnificent pyrotechnics” and features “Maleficent as a 45-foot-tall, fire-breathing dragon,” according to Disney’s website.
