Matthew Perry has apologized again for a questionable quote about Keanu Reeves. He wants to remove it from his book.
Matthew Perry (53) wants to delete a tasteless sentence about Keanu Reeves (58) in future editions of his autobiography. The “Friends” star promised this at the weekend at a book festival organized by the newspaper. “I said a stupid thing,” Perry admitted. “It was mean to do something like that.”
What happened? In his autobiography “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing”, which was published in November 2022, Perry laments the early death of his fellow friends River Phoenix (1970-1993) and Chris Farley (1964-1997). Both had fallen victim to a drug overdose.
“Why do original thinkers die but Keanu Reeves is still with us?”
In his book, Perry asks why do such talented people have to die while Keanu Reeves is allowed to live. Literally: “Why do original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die [1979-2008]but Keanu Reeves is still with us?” Writing elsewhere about Chris Farley, the Keanu Reeves comparison comes up again.
Matthew Perry has not personally apologized to his Canadian compatriot Keanu Reeves, but he has publicly apologized. “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu,” People recently quoted him as saying. “I just chose a random name, my fault. I apologize for that. I should have used my own name instead.”
Perry wants to make up for the personal apology soon. “If I meet the guy, I’ll apologize,” the actor said. And reiterated: “It was just stupid.”
