Ricardo Darín confirmed that he will star in the Netflix series El Eternauta

The renowned actor Ricardo Darinconfirmed in dialogue with CNN Radio that he will star in the long-awaited series of The Eternaut What have you been preparing for a long time? Netflix.

series of The Eternaut will be based on the historic 1957 science fiction comic, made by the screenwriter Hector German Oesterheld and the cartoonist Francisco Solano Lopez.

It is a huge and very complex project, it is an updated version that aims to reach beyond the borders of our country. It is based on the real comic, but there is a new version and we are all very enthusiastic and mobilized,” said Darín on CNN Primera Mañana, with Pepe Gil Vidal.

In turn added: “It’s very hard work, I’m preparing myself because it’s very physically and mentally demanding. It will be something that will not go unnoticed”. And he stated that it will be for one or two seasons.

The adaptation, which has been attempted for decades, is being carried out by Bruno Stagnaro (Pizza, Birra Faso, Okupas, A Rooster for Aesculapius). The series will be produced by Netflix and K&S of Hugo Sigmann and Oscar Kramerwith whom Darín has already worked on Wild Tales, La cordillera and La odyssey of the giles.

In February 2020, Netflix confirmed that they would be in charge of producing the series The Eternaut and that Stagnaro would carry out the script and direction. They also announced that Martin OesterheldHector’s grandson, would be a consultant on the series.

During the pandemic, the director confirmed that he was working on the script but refused to give more information about the production. If materialized, The Eternaut it would become the largest production locally for the streaming platform.

Decades ago, different filmmakers tried to adapt the work of Oesterheld and Solano López but were unsuccessful. Even in 2008 the project fell into the hands of Lucrecia Martel but it could not come to fruition either.
