Early this morning Adele woke talk show host James Corden out of bed. And then it started with the “Carpool Karaoke” ride in the car.
Singer Adele (34) picked up talk show host James Corden (44) before his very last “The Late Late Show” for a “Carpool Karaoke” tour. The two Britons and good friends drive through Los Angeles in the clip published on YouTube, singing songs like Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”, “Hometown Glory” and “I Drink Wine” together – the latter she had after an emotional conversation with Corden written, as the Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy winner explained on the drive.
In the video, the singer surprised Corden – who she says is one of her best friends “around the world” – at his house and took the wheel herself for a change.
“This is the very last time I’m doing this and I was blown away that you did this for me,” Corden said toward the end of the ride together. The father of three, who had presented the “Late Late Show” since 2015, announced last year that he was moving back to England with his family from the USA and therefore wanted to stop the show. The final show will air next Thursday on US television on CBS and Paramount+.
He and Adele hosted a “carpool karaoke” back in 2016. The video had been viewed more than 260 million times, making it Corden’s most viewed YouTube clip ever. Other celebrities who drove around with the moderator and actor, including Barbra Streisand, Madonna, Paul McCartney and the then First Lady of the USA, Michelle Obama, have not broken Adele’s record so far.
