Disney+ announced this week a new crossover short film between “The Simpson” and “Star Wars”. titled “Rogue Not Quite One”an obvious play on the 2016 franchise film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”the animated short film shows little Maggie Simpson as she evades the Empire in her own aeronautical buggy inspired by Grogu’s in “The Mandalorians”.
In the four-minute short, according to the release, “Homer loses track of Maggie, who hops in Grogu’s hover buggy for a hyperspace adventure across the galaxy. Facing off against a squadron of Imperial TIE fighters, Maggie takes the battle to Springfield in this epic short that celebrates all things ‘Star Wars.’”
This is not the first time that the universes of Star Wars and The Simpsons Collide. On Disney Investors Day in 2021, the streaming platform reunited Homer and Dana Walden in a promotional video, and in 2021 an animated short called “The Force Awakens From Its Nap” features Maggie fighting Padawans in space. . Later that year, the franchises were paired in the disney+ day for another short film “The Simpsons at Plusaversary”.
