“I used to think I was my own worst critic … Then I had children,” wrote Macklemore alongside a video on Instagram. His daughter has heard and is rating his new single.
The US rapper Macklemore has, in his own words, found his harshest critic in his own daughter. The 38-year-old shared a video on Instagram in which six-year-old Sloane is wearing headphones and listening to his new song “Best Year”.
The girl is unimpressed, however: “Not your best, but I love you anyway,” says Sloane. In between she takes a sip of cocoa and says: “Adele and Taylor Swift would be great.”
“I used to think I was my worst critic myself … Then I had children,” wrote the rapper next to the video. At the end of the clip, Sloane did find some words of praise: “I think it’s really good.” The new single “Best Year” will be released on Friday.
Macklemore, real name Ben Haggerty, and his wife Tricia have three children. Daughter Colette Koala was born in March 2018, last July son Hugo Jack was born.
