Prince Harry’s ghostwriter admits he yelled at the royal

JR Moehringer reveals which part of ‘Reserve’ got him particularly angry with Prince Harry. The 58-year-old ghostwriter of the successful tell-all book wrote in an essay in “” about his experiences during the creation process.

“I was upset with Prince Harry. My head was pounding, my jaw was clenching, and I started to raise my voice,” Moehringer writes. “And yet part of me was still able to step out of the situation and think, ‘This is so weird. I’m yelling at Prince Harry.’

At that moment in the summer of 2022, the US journalist feared that his two-year work with the departed Royal could be over.

The bone of contention was a scene in which Harry talks about his time in the military. As part of an exercise, he is captured by fake terrorists. One of them makes a spiteful remark to the prince about his deceased mother Diana.

Harry then responded with a flippant saying. And he really wanted to put that in the book. But his co-author had already deleted this passage several times because he considered it “unnecessary and a bit silly”. “It’s good for Harry that he had the courage to do it, but to end with what he said would dilute the meaning of the scene: that even in the most bizarre and offbeat moments of his life, his central tragedy intrudes,” Moehringer said in ” New Yorker”.

But during the Zoom call, which Moehringer says took place in the middle of the night, Harry once again insisted on this point. He wanted to show the people who “have downplayed his intellectual abilities all his life” that he had a smart answer ready even in this exceptional situation.

Moehringer understood the prince’s request, but wanted to delete the passage anyway. Paradoxically, the book isn’t about Harry and how he wants the world to see him. It’s about individual events that “resonate most with a wide range of people.” “At this point in the story, all these people need to know is that your kidnappers said something horrible about your mother,” the ghostwriter tells Harry.

Moehringer stayed at Harry’s guest house part of the time while he was working. His wife Meghan often visited him there with their son Archie to help him get over his homesickness. Upon his departure, Meghan gave him toys for his children.
