Dolly Parton releases a new album with 30 songs – 21 of which are cover versions of well-known rock songs. There are a number of stars on board.
Country icon Dolly Parton says she’s releasing her first rock record. Many greats from the genre should be heard on it – such as Kid Rock, Sting, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Lizzo and Miley Cyrus. They are all said to have worked on “Rockstar”, according to an announcement on the 77-year-old’s website.
30 songs, 21 cover versions
The album contains 30 tracks – 21 of them cover versions of well-known rock songs such as “Let it Be” or “Every Breath You Take”. The first song “World on Fire” is scheduled for release on Thursday, and the entire album is scheduled for release on November 17th.
The record was said to be inspired by Parton’s induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last November. There had been some fuss about this. The musician had announced that she wanted to withdraw from the race for a place in the Hall of Fame. The “Jolene” singer shared that she was “very flattered, but doesn’t feel like she deserves that right.” A few weeks later, however, she changed her mind: she has now learned that this honor is not only for rock musicians and that fans are also involved in voting.
