Vöcklabruck director Sabine Derflinger kicked off the film for “Die Dohnal”, which was awarded for the best documentary work at the film prize awarded yesterday in Vienna.
The 58-year-old, who shares the award with producer Claudia Wohlgenannt, found out about her success from OÖN via WhatsApp, she is finalizing a shoot in Italy. “How great is that,” wrote the filmmaker, who was delighted with her equally excellent editor Niki Mossböck. “Die Dohnal” is about the work of Austria’s first female minister for women (1939-2010), who shaped the violence protection law and the family law reform in a feminist way. The film had more than 40,000 admissions in 2020 until the first lockdown stopped the run of success.
“Overwhelmed and Overjoyed”
As for “Die Dohnal”, Christa Auderlitzky (“filmdelights”) from Ebense is responsible for the distribution and exploitation of the biggest winner of the 2021 film award: “The Trouble With Being Born” by Styrian Sandra Wollner was awarded the prize for best feature film. The 38-year-old also won in the directing category. The mask and sound design of the remarkable production also received awards dealing with artificial intelligence and interpersonal horror. “I’m overwhelmed, overjoyed,” says Auderlitzky, who set up her own “filmdelights” in Vienna eleven years ago: two of “her” films received eight nominations and won six prizes.
