Former “For Heaven’s Sake” star Fritz Wepper (80) is currently fighting cancer. In the spring he was in the intensive care unit for weeks, and since the summer he has been in a rehab clinic. His younger brother Elmar Wepper (77), who, according to his own statements, visits Fritz Wepper regularly: “My brother is on the right track”.
It is not yet clear when Fritz Wepper will be allowed to return home. “But definitely in the foreseeable future,” says the 77-year-old. Apparently the actor should be able to celebrate Christmas at home. Recently there were rumors that Fritz Wepper’s condition had deteriorated and that he was allegedly having to undergo an operation on the bowel. Elmar Wepper contradicts these claims: “There was no intestinal operation!”
Fritz Wepper: Visits from his loved ones give him strength
On his 80th birthday in August, Fritz Wepper himself commented on his state of health. “At the moment I’m working on being able to walk again,” he told the magazine “Bunte”. “After lying down for such a long time, of course, the muscles have broken down accordingly.”
In this poor health situation, the artist experiences variety and encouragement from his loved ones. “The daily visits from my family and friends are always a highlight and give me a lot of strength. We make the hours as pleasant and as cheerful as possible,” said the 80-year-old.
Fritz Wepper is married to the camerawoman and director Susanne Kellermann (47). The two have a daughter, Filippa.
