“I feel that the direction is right. Strength and energy are returning. I want to be fully fit again by September,” says Rudi Anschober.
The ex-health minister, who announced his resignation on April 13th due to health problems, faced some journalists for an interview yesterday. He is asked so often how he is doing, so he now wants to give an interim report. And that is very gratifying. “I’m far better,” says Anschober. The medical values are almost back where they should be.
In the middle of June, Anschober appeared again in public for the first time, at the Federal Congress of the Greens in Linz, briefly only and without taking the floor, but with frenetic applause. Before that, he was “completely submerged” for weeks, says the ex-minister. “From 150 percent to zero, that was nice and necessary, but you have to learn that again first.” He is touched by the expressions of sympathy that he receives almost every day: “It is a gift that people in our country are so friendly towards a politician,” says Anschober. He received hundreds of letters, children’s drawings and wishes for wellbeing. “That was medicine.”
From autumn, Anschober wants to build his existence according to politics, with lectures, but above all with his book project, which he already promised when he declared his resignation. Topic: politics and the pandemic.
