Born from the union between the family urquia and the Uco Valley, Urqo is a thriving Mendoza winery that produces wines from excellence trying to respect the terroir and caring for the environment, cornerstones of his philosophy.
That alliance arose from the determination of Roberto, Dolores, Soledad, Cecilia and Luciasecond and third generation of the founding family and owner of the General Deheza Oil Company (AGD). Currently, Urqo has three farms: Carob Trees and Sleepers, in Tupungato, and El Mirador, in Chacayes.
Urqo Malbec del Mirador
It was from the vineyards of this last location, located at 1,200 meters above sea level, where the most recent launch of the winery was created: Urqo Malbec del Mirador 2021, a high-end wine that, in the words of its creators, “reflects the maximum expression of the winery”.
After a 2022 debut in society by the hand of its Palo Santo line, Urqo redoubled the commitment in 2023 with the release of its third bottle of its own on the market. “With feet on the ground, heart in the vineyards and soul in the Uco Valley” is the motto that motorized the search.

the winemaker Daniel Piwinery coach, explains: “It has aromas of ripe black fruit, an intense purple color, solid tannins that deliver a great breadth in the tactile sensation in the mouth and are combined with a balanced acidity”.
“Its delicate aging in 500L French oak barrels make this label a modern wine in its concept, with great respect for the landscape and the characteristic fruit component of the place, an objective sought from the management of the vineyard,” he concludes.
For his part, Leonardo PisanoUrqo’s oenologist, assures that “This wine is the beginning of a process that will undoubtedly be long but that we started with a lot of responsibility and commitment and of which we can feel proud at the same time because we have achieved a product of excellence.”
Concept
But no good wine ends up being so without a label to match. This task was carried out by the Cordovan artist Martín Enricci, responsible for closing the alliance between blood and terroir. “Meeting, company and reflection” are the three values that Enricci associates with the ancient drink.
“The work was done with three types of natural inks. In it you can smell earth, soil, herbs and some minerals. It represents the natural elements that are basic and that go unnoticed but are fundamental. The basic, the simple, the natural and the beautiful”, account.

Regarding the name, Dolores Urquia comments that, after many laps, They decided that the wine should be named after the winery and the vineyard from which it comes.
“El Mirador was the farm that cost the most for the water to reach. We spent several years trying to enable a well. And it makes sense with what happens with looking and with the eyes, with what it takes for emotion to reach the eyes and, when it does, it is all the expression. That is what this wine symbolizes for us”, reflect.
The launch event was held at the winery’s facilities, in Valle de Uco, Mendoza, and was attended by the Urquía family, as well as the team of specialists and professionals who worked on winemaking.
