The German health authorities have again reported more infections to the Robert Koch Institute than on the previous day of the week. The seven-day incidence increases to 5.8.
The seven-day incidence of corona infections rose for the fourth day in a row. It was 5.8 new infections in seven days per 100,000 inhabitants (previous day: 5.5; previous week: 4.9). The health authorities in Germany reported 952 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within one day. This is evident from the numbers from Saturday morning, which reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4.17 a.m. For comparison: a week ago the value was 671 infections.
91,225 dead after coronavirus infection
According to the new information, 35 deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 16 dead. The RKI has counted 3,735,420 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected.
The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,634,000. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 91,225.
Even if the number of corona cases is currently low, the spread of the particularly contagious delta variant of the corona virus is cause for concern. On Wednesday, the RKI announced that the variant first identified in India is now responsible for more than 50 percent of all infections with the corona virus in Germany.
