The northern Italian city of Milan is considered the center of the furniture world. If you want to make it in the industry, you have to exist here. In a series, we present the creators and designers who hold all the strings in their hands. Part five: Piero Lissoni.
Mr. Lissoni, your designs can be summed up in one word: elegance. Can you learn timeless beauty?
Sure, that’s a matter of practice. My tip: the more complex the requirements for a design, the simpler the product should be. You often have to part with good ideas. It helps to be radical.
What does Italian design mean to you?
Even if many people don’t believe it: We designers only play a supporting role. The main players are in Italy’s factories: the craftsmen, employees, and also the entrepreneurs.
