Actor Simon Pegg reveals in an interview that he suffered from alcohol addiction while filming “Mission: Impossible”.
He was at the peak of his career and hardly anyone knew how badly he was doing. British actor Simon Pegg (53) spoke in a BBC interview. He admits that he was addicted to alcohol back then, in the early 2000s: “You get very secretive when you have that in your life.”
The 53-year-old tried to hide his drinking addiction on the film set as best as possible: “You learn to do it without anyone noticing. Because it takes the lead. It wants to assert itself and it does everything not to to be stopped.”
At some point, Pegg continues, you get to the point where you can no longer hide it: “Fortunately, I then managed to pull myself out of it.”
Alcohol helped numb the feelings
The actor struggled with mental health issues as a teenager. Alcohol, Pegg says, helped numb his emotions until the birth of his daughter in 2009 forced him to face and overcome his addiction.
Simon Pegg, a successful comedian and screenwriter, has appeared in four Mission: Impossible films.
