In the fourth episode of “Sing meine Song”, in which everything revolves around singer Clueso, things get hot. While Nico Santos grabs Clueso’s sex hit “37 degrees in paradise”, there is a lot of crackling between Alli Neumann and the German pop icon.
It’s getting hot with “Sing my song”. The fourth episode of the VOX show honors the work of German pop icon Clueso, much to the delight of the participating artists, who all feel a personal connection to his music.
Whether it’s Montez, Nico Santos or LEA – each of the stars seems to have grown up with the hits of the “The Most Beautiful Days” singer and to associate personal moments with them. “He’s been a huge superstar for as long as I can remember, whether I was a kid or now as a grown man,” says Montez. And Nico Santos is also enthusiastic: “I still remember running home from school with Clueso on my ears, it’s just crazy to see him here. He’s so young and I love that about him.”
“Even my dog likes Clueso”
And the 43-year-old shows off his youthful streak with a flawless package jump right at the beginning of the show. “With him you immediately notice his inner child,” says Alli Neumann. “If there’s anyone sitting on the unicorn in the pool all the time, it’s him.” For the 28-year-old, Clueso is more than just a musical role model. “We all kind of have a crush on him, don’t we?” smiles the 28-year-old.
“Even my dog likes Clueso,” grins Neumann. She can hardly hide her crushes when she later appears in front of Clueso. Before she grabs the microphone to perform “Paris”, she says: “Now I have to be very careful what I say. One of my first German music crushes…”, she stammers and then says: “Uh… I thought so ey, sing a love song for Clueso, by him, for him… Now I can’t look at you anymore. So uncomfortable.” But the time of the crush is over now, she asserts. “Not that you misunderstand.”
Then she sets the sparks flying with her version of the hit. Clueso jumps up, Neumann beams and the two start dancing together. “Oh, if little Alli saw that!” she says during the song. “One definitely noticed that you had or have at least one music crush,” Montez grins.
Nico Santos delivers a hot R&B version of Clueso’s secret sex hit
Nico Santos’ version of “37 Degrees in Paradise” is also getting hot. Before the chart-topper can sing the hit, Clueso says, “It’s a song about sex. ’37 Grad’ is just a song about a hot encounter.” But that’s not obvious at first glance. “I like not to describe things so bluntly. It’s a bit like in advertising: if you see the white mold, you don’t have to write it over it,” explains the singer. The number is about the feeling of losing yourself in something – in this case it was sex. And Santos thinks: “Finally a song that sounds really sexy in German”. He starts his fiery R&B version with a drum insert on two congas, Montez says smugly about his later dance moves: “You can tell that you’ve had a lot of sex in your life.”
Stefanie Kloß also starts her performance with an instrument. With a harmonica, she tunes into the hit “Barfuss”, which is about the courage to try new things and step out of your comfort zone. Clueso’s conclusion: “Beautiful. I was just in a thousand places at the same time.”
Pure emotions and feelings
It also gets emotional with host Johannis Oerding and his version of “Kein Bock zu geh’n”. “I made a major world out of your minor world here and there,” says Oerding before his performance. During the 41-year-old’s performance, Clueso raised his fist in the air several times, and the enthusiasm was written all over his face. “It’s so flashing to sit here,” he says. At LEA, Clueso even gets really emotional. After the first notes of “If you love” he closes his eyes. At the end he says: “Wonderfully sung. I’ll go to my bungalow for a moment, cry.” The mood is unique.
The fourth episode ends with the appearance of Montez. The rapper sees parallels in his and Clueso’s careers and visibly feels a connection to him. He says: “Today I rediscovered that you are one of the baddest artists I’ve met in my life.” Without Clueso his music would not exist at all. Montez then dedicates his version of “You were always there” to his boys and his family, he is for “all the people who have always been there and believed in me,” he emphasizes. “Completely the Montez version”, LEA comments on the performance with slightly different text. “This could easily be your next number 1 hit,” says the singer.
Difficult childhood and adolescence
In addition to Clueso’s music and his career path, this evening also talked a lot about the singer’s childhood and youth, which was not always easy. “I was an absolute clown during breaks,” said Clueso. “Because I just had a lot of energy and didn’t know where to go.” At that time, the artist did not yet know how to deal with his hyperactivity, and as a result he even spent six weeks in a child psychiatric ward.

The macabre: Clueso records his music in exactly this now-closed psychiatric ward and has rented rooms there for his studio. He was also kicked out of school several times, he says. “I actually slept in my old room the first few nights,” he recalls. And the other artists are also amazed: “What kind of twist is that? You can’t make that up!”, says Santos.
At the end of the episode, the protea went to the band for the song of the night for the second time this season. “I can’t make up my mind today,” Clueso sums up. “I’ll give them to the ladies.”
“Sing my song” is always on Tuesdays at 8:15 p.m. on Vox.
