Johnny Depp assured that he does not feel “boycotted” by Hollywood

Johnny Depp declared this Wednesday that what is published about him is “horrifyingly written fiction”, after the controversy that broke out the day before with his attendance at the inauguration of the cannes film festival.

“In these last five, six years, most of what you have read is horribly written fiction”he said at a press conference, alluding to his notorious legal battle with his ex-wife.

“We live in very strange, strange times, where it seems like everyone has to get on the sidelines,” added the 59-year-old actor. “Those who want to live like this I wish them the best. Do not count on me,” he settled.

Depp had a bitter legal battle with his wife Amber Heard, with whom he was married for just over a year, between 2015 and 2016. Heard filed a lawsuit for spousal violence and requested a divorce.

Later the actor sued his ex-wife, who continued to accuse him, for defamation, and won the trial.

Depp, an actor who has acknowledged problems with alcohol and drugs, found himself sidelined by Hollywood studios.

The premiere of “Jeanne du Barry” at the Cannes Film Festival

Last year, the French director and actress Maiwenn called him to roll “Jeanne du Barry”a favorite film about King Louis XV, played by the actor.

The film opened the Cannes festival on Tuesday night. That same day, a group of French film professionals signed a manifesto protesting the presence of “aggressive men and women” on the red carpet.

“It was brave of him to choose a provincial from Kentucky like Louis XV,” Depp said, referring to Maiwennwho has had her own problems with the law, after a journalist accused her of assault.

Asked if he felt boycotted by Hollywood, Depp replied: “no, because I don’t think about Hollywood, I don’t need Hollywood very much”.
