Netflix recently premiered Motherthe new action movie starring Jennifer Lopez and it only took a couple of days for it to become the tape that heads the top 10 in Argentina.
Mother follows a deadly assassin who is forced to come out of hiding and put herself in danger in front of all those who want to kill her. The reason for her to leave her life behind her back is that she has to protect her daughter, whom she gave up for adoption years ago. Reunited after so long, the two women will be forced to flee and fight for their lives as they try to put together what they thought was broken.
The film directed by Niki Caro It stars Lopez. Joseph Fiennes, Lucy Paez, Omari Hardwick, Paul Raci, and Gael Garcia Bernal.
The Mother on Netflix: explained end of the film with Jennifer Lopez
(Warning spoilers below) After preventing Zoe (Paez) from being kidnapped by Adrian Lovell (Fiennes) and seeing the murder of her friend William Cruise (Hardwick), the mother (Lopez) returns to the Tlingit Bay in Alaska with her daughter to protect herself. But, one day, the 12-year-old girl is bitten by a baby wolf and takes her to the doctor. There, by chance, she tells the doctor her real name.
When she sees that the situation is dangerous, JLo’s character decides to ask her friend Jons (Raci) to take the girl away and she will stay in the place in case Adrian comes looking for her. Although, true to her mother’s style, Zoe manages to sneak out and take a car to meet her mother when she realizes that the enemy has come to kill her.
When the mother is face to face with Adrian, he tells her that “if we die, she (the girl) survives”; but JLo’s character knows that’s not true. So she plans to attack, but her enemy is faster and manages to dodge her, taking the girl with him in her car. With the last shred of strength she has left, the mother delivers a “perfect shot” to Adrian’s head and prevents his escape.
That’s when Zoe gets out of the man’s truck and comes running through the white snow to her mother. Both merge into a hug that is easily the best scene achieved in conveying the feeling of protection that only a mother can give.
The danger has finally ended and the teenager can return home to her adoptive mother. “Go with your mother,” Jennifer Lopez tells Lucy Paez in fiction. The last hug and an “I love you” is what is heard. The sequence change indicates that some time has passed and Zoe appears to be doing well next to her adoptive family in the same park where she was kidnapped. But, there is something different: the mother who brought her into the world watches over her safety from the top of a building and they communicate through signs. “You hit the target” is the last thing JLo says after receiving an affectionate “shot” from the minor.
In this way, we understand that Zoe continues to live with her adoptive parents, but shares whenever she can with her biological mother. Happy ending for mother and daughter.
