In Spain, the corona numbers are currently rising again, but the hunger for music and culture is apparently immense. Thousands of mostly young people celebrated at least the Cruilla Festival.
In Barcelona, despite the sharp rise in Corona numbers, thousands of mostly young people came together for this year’s Cruilla music festival.
Up to 18,000 people per day took part in the open-air event from Thursday to Saturday, reported the newspaper “La Vanguardia” and the Europa Press news agency.
A maximum of 25,000 per day were allowed. Groups such as Two Door Cinema, Club, Manel, Zoo, Amaral, La Casa Azul and Sopa de Cabra performed.
All participants had to undergo a rapid corona test immediately before entering. 180 test places were available for this. About 200 participants had tested positive. There was a ban on drinking and eating directly in front of the stage, plus a mask requirement everywhere. Most of the enthusiastic spectators would have behaved very disciplined. “We do not need to intervene, they stick to the rules,” “La Vanguardia” quoted one of the many volunteer stewards.
There was hardly any criticism of the mass event in view of the rapidly increasing number of infections among young people in Catalonia. The newspaper «ABC» wrote that it was «worrying» to see thousands of young people dancing and singing along in front of the stage without any distance and not always wearing masks. The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within 14 days for 20 to 29-year-olds in Catalonia is currently over 2,500.
The federal government announced on Friday that the whole of Spain, with the vacationer islands of Mallorca and the Canary Islands, which are popular with Germans, will again be classified as a risk area from Sunday. In practice, not much has changed because a negative test has already been mandatory for air travelers on their return.
However, the number of new infections per 100,000 people in Spain rose to 199 within seven days by Friday. From 200 over a longer period, Germany could declare the country a high incidence area. Then those who were not fully vaccinated would have to be in quarantine for at least five days when they return to Germany.
