The “Best Of” were presented, awarding the best of Wine Tourism in the Great Wine Capitals

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism opened the registrations to participate in the Best Of Mendoza’s Wine Tourism 2024, an event that distinguishes the best wine tourism practices.

Minister Nora Vicario; the president of the Great Wine Capitals, national senator Mariana Juri; the president of Emetur (Mendoza Tourism Entity), Marcelo Montenegro; together with entities from the wine sector.

Those interested in participating in this edition of the local Best Of may register, free of charge, from May 18 to August 4.

During the launch, Minister Vicario highlighted: “As part of the objective set by Governor Rodolfo Suarez to position the province as an international tourist destination, we are projecting the excellence of our wines, our culture and our people globally. We are proud that Mendoza is the World Capital of Wine”.

“The province integrates this network as a result of the quality and recognition that our wine industry has throughout the world. All the regions agree that our public and private sectors understood the strategic importance that development must be done together with tourism, the promotion of culture and commercial exchange”, he added.

In this sense, the official pointed out: “Today, wine has the characteristic of being the common thread of different tourist segments such as nature, landscapes, weddings, innovative experiences, sunsets, glamping, etc. With this diversity of options and with the help of 204 wineries open to tourism, Mendoza leads the exponential growth that wine tourism has had, an entire economic activity in itself.”

Said activity, the minister pointed out: “generates employment and a multiplier impact for local, provincial and regional economies, and that has produced a leap in quality to the tourist offer, to position it in the international context”.

For her part, Senator Mariana Juri, president of the GWC, commented: “It is a great pride for Mendoza to be able to present from here what the 11 World Capitals of Wine can do, which is the Best Of contest in which all establishments linked to wine tourism will be able to participate in different categories at the local level and then in the international awards”.

“The people of Mendoza will do it, once again, as they have been doing for a long time, with great quality, and that will allow our province to be in this important showcase of the world,” he concluded.

The categories in which they can be presented are Accommodation, Restaurant, Sustainable practices of wine tourism, Architecture, parks and gardens, Art and culture, Innovative experiences in wine tourism, Services related to wine tourism and Small wineries.

In all categories it is awarded with gold, silver and bronze. Then, the gold winners in the local awards will participate in the International Gala that rewards the best of each wine region in the world, which this year will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Mendoza hosted the last meeting of the great international wine capitals. There, the Anaia winery was awarded international gold.

Mendoza, since 2005, is part of the Great Wine Capitals Network (GWC for its acronym in English), whose translation is Great Capitals of Wine, made up of Adelaide, Australia; Bilbao/Rioja, Spain; Bordeaux, France; Lausanne, Switzerland; Mainz/Rheinhessen, Germany; Mendoza, Argentina; Porto, Portugal; San Francisco/Napa Valley, United States; Valparaíso/Casablanca Valley, Chile; Verona, Italy, and Cape Town/Cape Winelands, South Africa.
