Everything on one app: routes, traffic jams and construction sites as well as electric charging stations on the motorways – from the federal government. The Autobahn app should be available from July 20th.
On July 20, the federal autobahn company is launching a service app for driving on German autobahns. This was confirmed to the German Press Agency on Saturday from the project environment. The newspapers of the Neue Berliner Redaktionsgesellschaft (Saturday) had previously reported on it.
According to this report, the application on the smartphone should display routes, traffic jams and construction sites as well as electric charging stations on the motorways. This emerges from internal documents of the federally owned Autobahn GmbH. In addition, users should have access to webcams along the route, it said. Truck drivers could find out whether there are free parking spaces and whether rest stops are equipped with toilets, showers and a restaurant. Route planners for drivers have been around for a number of years from Google, TomTom and Apple, for example.
