Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae: The last of its kind

The times for pure combustion engines are slowly but surely passing by. No wonder that Lamborghini is celebrating its V12 once again – with the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae.

The new super sports cars have long been known as hyper sports cars and are mostly driven by electric motors or at least supported by such motors in a hybrid module. The pure combustion engines are slowly coming to an end and for the naturally aspirated engines – in sports cars mostly linked to a high-speed concept – things are looking even darker. The Lamborghini Aventador is one of the last of its time. And since a successor is being announced, which is still powered by a combustion engine, but is supported by an electric motor, the sports car manufacturer from Santa Agata is releasing the last series of its top model and garnishing it with numerous neat details and a few Horsepower more.

“The Aventador LP 780-4 embodies the final, purest and timeless V12 from Lamborghini,” explains Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, “it conveys the unmistakable design that is familiar from a 12-cylinder, the technical solutions and the emotionally charged driving experience and as the last Aventador to close an extraordinary era. It is the last of its kind: It stands for maximum power and uncompromising performance, as expected from a modern V12 from Lamborghini, paired with our unique design DNA of the extra class. ” The Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is powered by the well-known 6.5-liter V12, which transfers 780 horsepower to both axles instead of the previous 740 hp of the Aventador S. A tiny reference to the previous top model of the SVJ. Its maximum torque: 720 Nm at an impressive 6,750 rpm.

The power is transmitted via the well-known seven-speed ISR transmission with automated gear changes. The high-strength and light carbon fiber monocoque, which reduces the weight of the all-wheel-drive super sports car to around 1.7 tonnes, has not changed. The final edition of the northern Italian accelerates from a standing start to 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds and reaches a spectacular top speed of 355 km / h. The carbon fiber brake decelerates the two-seater from 100 km / h in 30 meters to 0 speed.

The Lamborghini Avantador LP 780-4 Ultimae differs optically through a modified front that provides more contact pressure. The open mouth of the LP 780-4 brings an additional flow of air into the vehicle to improve aerodynamic efficiency and cool the engine and radiator. The air ducts and the side cooling air inlet of the bumper reduce the disruptive effect generated by the front tires and optimize the wake flow to the rear radiator. The active rear wing can be adjusted to three different positions depending on the speed and the selected driving mode and improves the overall balance of the vehicle. The permanent all-wheel drive enables greater torque transmission in the rear thanks to rear-wheel steering, so that less torque is transmitted to the front axle when the accelerator is released and a sporty but safe oversteer behavior is guaranteed and even slight drifts are possible.

The Lamborghini Avantador LP 780-4 Ultimae is limited to 350 coupés and 250 roadsters, which can be customized with various new special equipment. For the design of the interior, customers not only have the three standard colors silver, bronze and white, five additional optional colors and of course the almost infinite spectrum of Lamborghini Ad Personam available. A standard carbon fiber package enhances the interior and exterior elements. The outside area is available in a matt finish that goes perfectly with the low-gloss exterior colors. In addition to the standard forged rims in 20 and 21 inches in silver, wheels in bronze, black and titanium are also available, all of which are equipped with P Zero Corsa tires from Pirelli.
