Government and manufacturers subsidize e-cars down to half the price. The discount paradise ends at the end of the year – and many vehicles will not be available by then.
E-mobility is worthwhile – at least as long as the full subsidy is still being paid. It is only certain until the end of the year. Possibly they will be extended, perhaps the next cabinet will realize that huge sums of money are being given away to high earners – with a very questionable environmental benefit. In the Merkel era, there was always no money for a subsidy for a far more environmentally friendly electric bike.
It doesn’t even stay half a year. But not every car is immediately available. A certain delivery time is normal for an individually assembled car. However, the production lines of some manufacturers have not yet been completely converted to electric, plus the semiconductor shortage of the Corona months.
If you decide now, you have to hurry, because the day of approval counts and not the day of the order. Some vehicles are already out of the running – at least when ordering a new vehicle. You have to be lucky to get hold of a rare specimen at the dealer in the yard or to find a dealer who has pre-ordered at their own risk and is expecting the vehicles in the coming months.
But if you want to order normally and then also equip your car according to your own wishes, you have to stick to it. But the situation is not hopeless. Our data comes from the portal. Interested parties can get specific offers from local dealers. The information on availability and prices are based on real contracts and not on non-binding information. Without much effort, you can get a good offer from specific dealers in the region. The customer may not get the cheapest price in Germany, but he gets a good, fair price – without having to go to ten dealers and negotiate individually.

And so the portal also has access to the real delivery times. It looks bad at Audi. The delivery times for the various e-Tron models are between 6 and 14 months (Audi RS e-tron GT). At BMW you can try the “design” vehicle i3 (4 months), for i Xun d iX3 it should be too late. At just two months, the Tesla Model 3 is available surprisingly quickly, while the other Teslas are in short supply. All French models (Citroën, Peugeot, Renault) are still in the running for the deadline. At VW you can try your luck with VW e-Crafter Delivery Van (3-4 months) and ID.3 (4-5 months). Opel Corsa-e, Nissan Leaf and Toyota Proace Electric and Proace Verso Electric should also be available by the end of the year. From the Smart, you can try the smart EQ forfour. Porsche also has short delivery times, the Jaguar i-Pace will be available in 4 months, at Mercedes it takes a little longer, but it can still work. The full list can be found below.
In addition to the state’s innovation bonus, there are price campaigns by manufacturers. “If we are to be honest, the market for small e-vehicles is completely distorted by the promotion. They are much cheaper, they almost halve the price,” said Philipp Sayler von Amende, managing director of Carwow stern. In percentage terms, the premiums in the lower price segments have a much stronger effect. In addition, the innovation premium is reduced from a list price of 40,000 – without special equipment. The cheapest models cost little more than 10,000 euros and are therefore cheaper than a comparable combustion engine. A full 53 percent is currently saved when buying a Renault Twingo Electric (from 12,065 euros) and smart EQ fortwo (from 10,945 euros), while the somewhat outdated BMW i3 is at least 40 percent. The large family van Opel Zafira-e Life will also be 45 percent cheaper.
